Life At Disney!

So here I am back in Florida! Life is good but super busy with work and training and meeting new people! I ended up living in the commons with 3 other girls from Canada which is awesome. They are all working food and beverage as well. I am so happy to be back here and I can't wait to blog about my adventures!

I GOT THE JOB!! Orlando here I come!!

Hi everyone!

Yet again it has been a long time since I posted! Life has been super busy but awesome! I flew home to Ontario on January 29th, my home town is about a 3 hour drive from Montreal so I thought I would take a little holiday, go home and see my family and make my way to the Montreal interviews instead of the Vancouver interviews (I am living in Banff, Alberta right now). I am super glad I chose the Montreal interviews because I don't think I could have waited another month! I was way to excited!!

So January 31st my mom and I jumped in the car and drove to Montreal. We stayed at the Sheraton where the interiews were being held with I think made my day a lot easier. I got up on February 1st and got ready for my interview. At 8:30am they brought us all into a room and showed us a video pretty much just showing us what life will be like living/working at Disney. After the video they answered any questions we had and did a little bit of Disney trivia which included prizes and it  was pretty fun! Once this was over Kristen from Yummy Jobs gave us all our interview times, the people who had come from the farthest away got to go earlier than the people who lived close by. This put my interview at 4:30pm. Since we were staying at the hotel I was able to have breakfast and go back up to my room and take a nap. It was much needed since I had a hard time sleeping the night before.. I was just a little excited about my interiew in the morning!

Around 2pm we left our room and I made my way back down to where the interviews were taking place. I gave my paperwork to Kristen and although I put my start date as July she asked me if I would be able to start earlier. She told me she had start dates April 9th & 30th. On a whim I told her I could start April 30th although that wouldn't give me much time to move back from Alberta or save up money but I was just so excited about going back I didn't really even think about it. I spent the rest of my time talking to the other applicants and it was so nice meeting some of the other people who were applying. Everyone is really supportive of each other and really friendly too! I would say about 70% of the people there had already done a Disney program as well so it was neat to hear about other peoples Disney experiences.

After talking with Kristen she was able to move my interview up a little bit and at 4pm it was my turn! I interviewed with a blonde lady and I can't remember her name right now which is aweful but she was very nice! She asked me some hard questions that I wasn't really expecting compared to what everyone else was telling me they got asked but I think it was because of all of my work history. I have held a couple of supervisor jobs in food and beverage in the past and she asked me things like "How are you going to feel being managed by someone when you are used to being the manager?' and "Why would you like to be a server again after all of your previous experience?" After talking about that she asked me questions about my schooling, why I wanted to work for Disney again, and how I would feel living with people from other countries and being away from home for so long. My interview lasted about 15 minutes but it went by so quickly when I walked out I felt like my head was spinning! I thought it went well but you can never be too sure! I was also a little weary because I only applied for food & beverage which I knew would lower my chances since I didn't apply for all 3 roles.

After my interview we jumped right into the car and headed home. I went to a fundraiser dance when I got home and it was called "Celebration of Life" which I found fitting because I really did feel like celebrating life knowing I made it to the last round of Disney interviews! Now for the good part! At about 11:15pm that night an email went to my phone. I was wondering who would be sending emails that late, so I checked it and.....IT WAS FROM KRISTEN OFFERING ME AN APRIL 30TH START DATE!! I was so excited!! My friends and I jumped up and down a squeeled like little girls!! I couldn't believe it! Only 7 hours after my interview I was being offered a role I wanted at the Canadian Pavillion and I get to go back to Disney!! I still can't believe how lucky I am and I am so thankful to get this oppourtunity! When I did the college program I worked at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resort so I am excited to see what life is like working at a park! Get ready for lots more blogging from me on my next Disney adventure!!

Good luck to all of the other applicants and I look forwarding to seeing you in Orlando!

It's Been A While!! Disney Interview Here I Come!

So I guess it has been a while! The hotel was super busy over the Christmas holidays and I was working like crazy and almost forgot that I started a blog! So here's an update! I had my Disney phone interview on Decemeber 11th, 2012. It was early in the morning and it lasted less than 6 minutes which was a little scary to me but we covered a lot of topics. After the interview was over I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew I didn't bomb the interview but at the same time I wasn't feeling great about it either. Of course I checked my email over and over until December 17th when I got the awesome news that I was invited to the face to face interviews! Even though I am living in Banff I chose to go to the Montreal interviews because Montreal is only 3 hours from my hometown which means I not only get to go to the Disney interview but I get to see my family and friends too!! Needless to say I am extremely excited to go to this interview! I have been trying to do my research and be prepared for this interview but everyone just keeps saying "be yourself, be friendly, and keep calm" so I'm having a hard time, but that does seem like good advice.

We have started an email chain through Kristen at Yummyjobs which is really cool! I am getting to know some of the others who will also be attending the Montreal interviews, most of them are also on a CRP 2013 facebook group and have been really great at answering questions I have since my last interview process was much different than this one. It seems like about 75% of the people going to the interview have already worked at Disney as well so its cool to know that there are more Disney lovers out there from Canada.

Well I guess thats it for now! I really can't believe that it has been a year today since I flew into Orlando to start the International College Program at Disney! I'll update you all after my interview on February 1st!!!  Wish me luck!!

Still Waiting...

So it has been 20 days since I applied for the Cultural Rep program. I

was feeling pretty confident in my chances of at least getting a phone

interview since I have already worked at Disney with no write ups or

anything like that, but the other day I found out that a few other

Canadians that are on a facebook group I joined applied and heard back

a week later. I'm finding this pretty discouraging :(  At first I thought it

was because I applied for a November 2013 start date which is pretty

far away but now I am not  sure. I have changed my start date to July

1st 2013, in hopes that I get to go to Florida sooner and hear from

yummy jobs sooner as well. My contract at the hotel I am working at

now expires in April so I figure why not go to Disney sooner than later

right? I'm missing it everyday and I can't wait to go back!! I really hope

yummy jobs gives me another shot at living the dream again. Fingers

crossed I hear back soon because this wait is killing me!! On a brighter

note it seems like a bunch of people on the ops list are getting positions

so I'm very excited for them and all the others that just got jobs at

Disney! They are in for the adventure of a life time!

Missing Disney

First Blog Ever...

So here we go! This is my first blog ever! I just felt like I needed to get my feelings about Disney out and its hard because my friends here in Banff don't understand. I really don't think anyone understands unless they have worked for the mouse. I have to say this does give my Disney friends and I an incredibly close bond though. I guess I should tell you that I worked in Disney from January - July 2012 at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resort as concierge. It was a pretty cool job although the money wasn't great. Minimum wage in America is just that... MINIMUM! Lol.. But honestly it was one of the best experiences of my whole life. Being able to go to the parks for free, whenever I wanted was such a great perk! No matter how many times I went it never got old. It was such a great place to hang out with friends and the photo oppourtunities were endless! Not to mention I got into the dorky habit of pin trading but it is so fun! One of the coolest things for me was the main gate pass. This allowed me to get up to 3 hopper passes a day up to six times. I got to take my dad and stepmom to disney for free, on a discounted meal plan, and a hotel that was 50% off. You won't believe how much money they saved! Basically Disney was magical <3

Life Now...

Life now is pretty new to me! I drove across Canada with my best friend two weeks ago to start a new job in Banff, Alberta. We live in a national park so its been pretty neat so far. The animals around here just roam around the main streets. The other day I actually walked right up to a deer at the grocery store! Although I am enjoying this new adventure I am a little bit Disney lonely, SOOOOOO..... The other day I decided I would apply to the Cultural Representative Program! I think that being able to repreesent my country at Disney would be amazing! The fact that they have serving positions at Le Cellier (one of my fave Disney restaurants) is amazing! And I also hear you can be a Disney trainer if you get a food & beverage position which I think will look great on my resume! Needless to say I am SO PUMPED to get an email back from yummy jobs to see if I will be considered for a preliminary interview! The website said it would be 6-8 weeks before I hear back.. It hasn't even been a week yet! If I remember from my ICP program though it only took about 2 weeks for them to get back to me so hopefully they are that quick again. I applied to start November 2013 so that I can stay in Banff for a year and then drive home before I drive to Florida! (I will most definatly drive this time as the cast member buses take forever!) Fingers crossed for this amazing oppourtunity!!
